There are three main subjects in Commerce that our teachers focus on, namely Accountancy, Business Studies, and Economics.
Accountancy
Accounting is the process by which financial information about a business is recorded, classified, summarized, interpreted, and communicated. It is the language of the business.
The term Accounting has been categorized as follows:
- Financial accounting is a major branch of accounting that describes the collection, recording, and extraction of financial information, in order to periodically summarize profit and loss, the balance sheet, and cash flow in accordance with legal, professional, and capital market requirements. The main task is to prepare regular financial reports.
- Managerial accounting is the branch of accounting for internal use, to which end an organization provides information only accessible to its insiders in order to assist decision-makers. The mission of managerial accounting is to utilize, inform, and control the functions of management
It is an application based subject. Students learn about the rules related to accounting, business organizations, and apply them in the real world.
Business Studies
Business Studies is the synthesis of knowledge related to businesses worldwide and it deals in the application of understanding the root concepts behind managing big and small businesses. To explain the complex concepts of business, our school focuses on making pupils understand the case studies related to the subject. Entrepreneurship Program is one such event that is organized once a year to make the students understand the practical aspect of the subject.
Economics
Economics is a branch of Social Science which focuses on how societies, governments, businesses, households and individuals allocate their scarce resources. This discipline deals with the problem of choice that arises due to scarcity of resources i.e. the Economic problem.
Economics is a wide subject ranging from Micro to Macro Economics thereby introducing students to the new order of world economics. The subject is made interesting by regularly discussing the aspects of Indian and World economy with the class. The students are encouraged to read 'Economic Times' every day.
